Privacy and consent
Pathways believes it is important for family/whanau and friends to be involved wherever possible but permission must be given by the person involved. We also ask them to specify what information can be shared with you.
What if consent has not been given?
Your family member is entitled to withdraw consent or withhold information from you as outlined in the Privacy Act and the Health Information Privacy Code.
Even if your family member has withdrawn consent, it does not prevent us from listening to your concerns. We can still share non-personal information, provide you with resources and put you in contact with support services.
What if things don’t seem right?
Pathways encourages people to come and talk to us about any of your concerns. Listening, talking and working together are important in finding the most appropriate solution. You also have the right to make a complaint if you are unhappy with any aspect of Pathways’ service.
