Privacy/Consent
Pathways believes it is important for family/whanau, friends and partners to be involved wherever possible, but your family member must give permission before we can contact you. We also ask them to specify the information that can be shared with you.
What if consent has not been given?
Your family member is entitled to withdraw consent or withhold information from you as outlined in the Privacy Act and the Health Information Privacy Code.
However, if your family member has withdrawn consent, it does not prevent us from listening to your concerns. We can still share non-personal information, provide you with resources and put you in contact with support services.
What if things don’t seem right?
We encourage you to come and talk to us about any of your concerns. By listening, talking and working together we’ve found solutions are usually found.
You also have the right to make a complaint if you are unhappy with any aspect of Pathways’ service. You can ask us for a copy of Pathways to Help, a comprehensive guide to making a complaint about any mental health service in New Zealand.
