Working Smarter
Pathways actively embraces information technology. We recognise a comprehensive Information Technology infrastructure is essential to delivering the best possible services.
We’ve developed purpose-built software in order to operate a fully integrated support service and information retrieval system:
PHACTS
PHACTS is our unique technology system developed by Pathways to record individual information about people using our services. While the system records details about an individual’s diagnosis, treatment regimes and assessment, the primary function is to develop individual goal plans online and to work with people to track their progress.
PHACTS is now a fully integrated system, accessible across the entire network, with a large emphasis on security. It is also linked to the Ministry of Health’s MHINC (Mental Health Information National Collection) database.

ICAN
Information Computer Access Network. ICAN is the place where people using Pathways’ services can access and manage their on-line health information record, giving them the option of entering their own journal notes and documenting their own journey.
Other Software Systems
These software systems have helped to streamline everyday administrative tasks.
CIMS is used primarily for Keys Living Choices to track rent and utilities payments. This has recently been incorporated into central support service technology PHACTS.
HRIS
Our Human Resources Information System is an online payroll and employee information management tool. It allows our team members to self manage the employee information we hold about them. Each employee can access their information, using a secure log in system, on the intranet.
Business intelligence software
This tool means Pathways can extract meaningful data from PHACTS, produce reports, analyse service outcomes and identify emerging trends. It ultimately provides a more streamlined and responsive service.
Intranet/Internet
All Pathways employees, whether in administration, supported accommodation services or mobile teams have access to the computer network and the wealth of information and resources it contains.
The fully integrated network ensures information integrity, allowing for standardised file management, and retrieval. This is important for staff to access background material from both here and overseas, such as government reports, research and links to important websites.
A key tool for staff is the Supported Services Manual. This online manual contains best practice policies and is hyperlinked, allowing fast, convenient access to relevant information.
