Real jobs
At the Pathways Hui in Wanganui in 2000 Pathways was given a clear message about the direction people wanted us to take. At the end of three days there was one clear, bold statement – ‘Real Jobs and Real Pay’. Since then Pathways has worked to make that a reality.
Having a job gives people a sense of belonging, accomplishment and achievement. It can help with feeling much more positive and achieving a healthier frame of mind. Of course, having a job also helps pay the bills and gives people more options to enjoy life. That’s why we’re dedicated to supporting people who use people using Pathways services to get a job that’s right for them.
A separate organisation called ‘Workwise’ was established to assist people into mainstream employment. It is now a completely separate and specialist employment agency.
We work closely with Workwise and other organisations that help people choose, get and keep jobs.
Pathways is also involved in two pre-employment programmes - Hamlin Road Farm and Fantail Gardens in Waihi.
