Real Jobs
At the Pathways Hui in Wanganui in 2000 Pathways was given a clear message about the direction people wanted us to take. At the end of three days there was one clear, bold statement – ‘Real Jobs and Real Pay’. Since then Pathways has worked to make that a reality.
A separate organisation called ‘Workwise’ was established to assist people into mainstream employment. It is now a completely separate and specialist employment agency.
Since the establishment of Workwise, a number of social enterprise businesses have been created to increase employment opportunities for people experiencing mental illness. These include Thames Natural, Miracle Toys and EcoPeople.
Pathways is also involved in two pre-employment programmes - Hamlin Road Farm and Waihi Garden in Waihi.
